Staff
We love the movie, but our staff are the anti-“High Fidelity” crew. No attitude, super knowledgeable, approachable and good for a laugh.

Al Conroy
Al has spent most of his life in a record store in one capacity or another. He joined ITM (as the hipsters call it) in September 2008 after successfully convincing management that he had extensive knowledge about some kinds of music and minor experience to boot.
He has fond memories of hearing “Popcorn”, “Autobahn” and the Doctor Who theme at a very young age. These may or may not be responsible for how he is now. Other things like The Normal, Throbbing Gristle, ‘70s funk, the Ramones and Cabaret Voltaire may also take responsibility.Al has had many years of radio deejaying (1986-1991, 1999-present) on CKUW. Currently he hosts Wrongly Wired on Wednesday nights 8-10 PM.
He also pretends to parade around as a musician having wasted 25 years on both solo work and bands. He currently operates under the moniker not half (1983-present), in addition to being the main synth-blaster for local space rawk legends Breath Grenades (1997-present).
In his spare time, he listens to music, reads sci-fi, paints and tries to train his cats to behave. He just knows they can play a Theremin.

Barb Stewart
Barb’s love affair with music began at age six with Shaun Cassidy’s Da Doo Ron Ron. Judge her as you will.
Such auspicious beginnings led to MANY years of co-hosting a campus/community radio show on CKUW, along with the pretense of being a freelance music journalist and editor. She now prefers to listen to music rather than write about it and saves her vitriol for the theatre crowd as Uptown’s theatre critic. She also dreams of becoming the co-host of Stuart Maconie’s Freak Zone on BBC Radio 6
Barb is forever thankful for the time she spends at Into the Music and the related discovery of her prog-lover within, but thinks that coming up with a top 20 list of her favourite records is cruel and unusual punishment. She apologizes to all the records she loves but didn’t include.

Fraser Runciman
Fraser joined the store staff in August 2007 & has enjoyed something which resembles a music career for the last 20 years.
As a teenage guitar hero living in Edinburgh Scotland in the late 80’s, he formed and played in multiple bands fusing everything from Psych, Thrash, 20th Century Orchestral, Electro, Hiphop Industrial & anything else he could persuade musicians to attempt.
Joined local punk heroes The Exploited in 1992 staying until 1995 recording Beat The Bastards & touring extensively.
Moved to Montreal in 1995, headhunted by Canadian electronic funksters Bootsauce for more touring until their demise in 1997, picking up Juno’s & Genies in the process.Moved to Winnipeg in 1997, renaming his musical exploits Fanny & has enjoyed much critical electronic mayhemic success for the last 10 years….

Greg Tonn
I started with AM radio in the late 60’s. Record collecting started with the blues (especially British), Jimi Hendrix and eventually prog rock and soul/Rn’B. Punk and new wave changed all that along with (beleive it or not) the early Winnipeg Folk Festivals. Started Into The Music in 1987 after a year gig at Sound Connection in Edmonton (hats off to Dorn & Donna Hootz). Art-rock still inspires me but that means Sun Ra or Tim Hecker or Black Mountain as much as King Crimson or Bob Dylan.
